How Not To Ride An Electric Scooter

Before the holidays are completely in the past, I would be remiss in not telling this story. The kids are quite amused by my skills on the electric scooter so maybe you will be too. Ha.

Did you know that I’m a bit clumsy? I have never been accused of being graceful. And definitely, no one has ever called me brave. So why did I think that an electric scooter was a good idea for me? Who knows?

But it was a good idea for the rest of the Parkers!

We Are Getting A Scooter!

When a scooter came into Brian’s store, I made sure that he put it aside so we could buy it for a family Christmas gift. I had such fun images floating through my head of my voyages around the neighborhood. I imagined scooting up to the Walgreens to buy milk. I imagined the wind racing through my hair!

Time To Ride!

When Christmas came, no one was more excited than me. Until I tried to ride it.

Now I expected a learning curve but I didn’t expect to be the only one who fell.

I also didn’t expect to break the back light before anyone got to ride. But that’s another story…

Four teenagers/young adults have mastered this contraption and thoroughly enjoyed it. One husband rides it with ease. But me? Not so much.

As it stands, I have yet to successfully ride that dang thing. I have psyched myself out in my mind. As soon as I put one foot on the scooter, I flashback to my relatively slow fall (but it’s much faster and harder in my mind! lol) and I instantly get anxiety when I stand on it.

On day two, Brian patiently coached me on this scooter that a young child could ride as I stared at my feet to make sure they are in the right position. It did not work….

I’m ridiculous, I know this! It’s ok to laugh at me as long as you do it with love. I assure you that Lizzie has been doing that since Christmas Day.

But, I tell you, this will make the victory that much sweeter when I finally master this super fast (not) scooter.

And for your viewing pleasure!
